To keep the child’s interest up and may him feel relaxed rather than anxious try to schedule lessons when you normally engage in similar activities during the time of the day and do the lessons in a place where there are no distractions.
You can do something like this; take your learn to speak Spanish audio CDs and listen to them together. Then try to repeat the words and the phrases. But you can of course choose to read bilingual storybooks. Ask your child about the book by looking at the picture on the cover and ask him of what he think the story is about. Let him find some familiar objects and colors in the illustrations.
Do not try to bore your child by adjusting the pace according to him and do the things above a couple of times within the coming days. After some time try to use Spanish words when talking about the book. Take some words in the story and change them to Spanish. Eg when talking about the cat, you could say “gato” or refer to the rainbow in the illustrations as “iris”. In that way you can make your child’s vocabulary better for each session.
In my next post, I will go over some other ways you can have the session as an variety and I will go over maybe one of the most important thing. Do this wrong and bye bye Spanish. In the mean time you should see this, Click here for your FREE 6-Day Mini Course.
